Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a professional wrestling fan, and I’ve been one since watching the AWA with my grandfather on Saturday afternoons back when I was a child. It’s one of those things that’s stuck with me, to the point where not only have I been a fan, but I’ve had a cup of coffee in the business as a manager, and now I run a wrestling news web site with a message board (check out and run a weekly wrestling podcast, hosted on that very site.

One of my favorite independent wrestlers is “MDogg” Matt Cross, and after a great stint with PCW/PRIME Wrestling, he’s been involved with a new (ish) promotion, Lucha Underground, where he wrestles under a mask as Son Of Havoc.

He continues to put on great matches there, but I just wanted to draw your attention to the promotion as a whole. In short, Lucha Libre originated in Mexico, and features a lot of high flying, acrobatics, quick wrestling exchanges – not to mention awesome masks and costumes. The wrestling is so much different compared to the current “traditional” Western style you’d see in WWE. I’m having a lot of fun watching it, and you should check it out too.

Lucha Underground seasons 1 and 2 are available on Netflix. In the USA, you can watch them live on the ElRey Network. Give them a shot!
